UL football's Keyon Martin carted off field during game vs Texas State
This story was updated with new information.
During Louisiana football's Tuesday night game against Texas State, one of its leading defensive players, senior cornerback Keyon Martin, went down with an injury.
After the Ragin' Cajuns' second-quarter touchdown, the Bobcats offense was back moving and on a first-down play after which Martin went down with the injury. His injury appeared to be to his upper body and neck area. The UL medical cart and officials to come out to tend to him.
Martin was attempting to make a tackle leading with his helmet and got caught up with the ball carrier. He had been down for more than 10 minutes, causing both sides to take a knee before the second half concluded.
Martin was loaded onto a stretcher and taken to Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in San Marcos just a few minutes away from the Bobcats' UFCU Stadium. It was reported by the Ragin Cajun Radio Network that Martin was speaking as he was being carted off.
During the second half of the game, Martin took to X, formally known as Twitter, from the hospital to let the Cajun country fan base know that he's going to "Shake back". It was announced on ESPN2 at the end of the game that Martin was discharged from the hospital.
