Tua Tagovailoa: How many concussions has Miami Dolphins QB had? World reacts

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa left the game after suffering an apparent head injury late in the third quarter against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night at Hard Rock Stadium.

Tagovailoa rushed up the middle to pick up a fourth down in Bills territory and went down injured after a collision with Buffalo's Damar Hamlin.

He to attempted to get up, put his hand to his head, and went back down. He was helped of the field and was escorted into the locker room with 4:24 remaining in the third quarter. Tagovailoa appeared rattled as he walked off the field, at one point looking up into the stands.

How many concussions has Tua Tagovailoa had?

Tagovailoa has a history of concussions and has contemplated retirement due to the repeated injuries.

He was diagnosed with two concussions in the 2022 season, and also suffered a third injury that was suspected to be head trauma.

Chris Nowinski, CEO of Concussion Legacy Foundation, tweeted his analysis of the incident and his well wishes for the Dolphins quarterback.

"Prayers for Tua Tagovailoa. Note his right hand balling into a fist and his arm going straight in the air. That's posturing and a sign of loss of consciousness and a #concussion. Certainly out for the game. So sad."

The former Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver was blunt via X in his reaction to the Dolphins quarterback's latest head injury on Thursday against the Buffalo Bills.

"That’s it…. NFL go ahead and do the right thing Tua has had entirely way too many concussions. He need to retire for his longevity health concerns."

Former New York Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes echoed sentiments regarding Tua Tagovailoa's playing future after seeing the Dolphins quarterback suffer another concussion.

"If I’m Tua, I’m taking my money and my ass to the Hawaiian islands and never playing football again. It’s not worth it, that’s just way too many head injuries for a young man with his whole life in front of him."

The two-time Super Bowl champion and current ESPN analyst was one of many to question whether Tagovailoa's long-term health was being impacted by repeated head injuries in the NFL.

"I know Tua walked off the field but quality of life has to factor in right now. I’m not even thinking football for him….got a life to live and I just want that man to be healthy."
