Tua Tagovailoa injury update: Miami QB has concussion, out for game vs Bills on 'TNF'
Former Alabama football quarterback and current Dolphins signal-caller was ruled out of Miami's "Thursday Night Football" game vs. the Bills with a concussion.
The injury occurred on a quarterback scramble by Tagovailoa just under the 5-minute mark in the third quarter. He lowered his head and collided with Bills safety Damar Hamlin, hitting his head again on the turf, before laying on the ground for several moments. That prompted Miami medical personnel to attend to him on the field at Hard Rock Stadium.
He was able to walk off the field on his own.

Per reports, Tagovailoa entered the NFL concussion protocol, which is conducted by a team doctor or unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant and includes a player examination. Doctors look for "no-go" syptoms in players, such as loss of consciousness, gross motor instability, confusion, ataxia and more.
With Tagovailoa concussed, the next steps to determine whether he can return to play is whether he clears concussion protocol, which includes several steps. Players will not be cleared to play until they clear each step, which include symptom-limited activity; aerobic exercise; football-specific exercise, non-contact drills and full football activity.
A player must be cleared both by a team doctor and an unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant.
