Titans are latest NFL team to partner with BetMGM, ahead of legal sports betting in Tennessee
The Tennessee Titans are the latest team to embrace the legal sports betting market.
The Titans announced Monday they have partnered with BetMGM ahead of sports gambling becoming legal in Tennessee starting on Nov. 1. BetMGM will be visible in many ways, such as team digital assets and big in-game moments like video board replays. The sportsbook will also have exclusive naming rights at the team’s television studio, which produces head coach Mike Vrabel’s show.
It’s yet another example of the NFL going from shunning the gambling world not long ago to making it a regular part of fans’ interactions with their team.
“We are thrilled to bring BetMGM to the state of Tennessee,” Titans senior vice president, chief marketing and revenue officer Gil Beverly said in a statement. “BetMGM will deliver new experiences and levels of engagement to our fans and we’re excited to welcome them in as an official partner.”
It’s a move by BetMGM to get a foothold in the Tennessee market. BetMGM received a conditional license to offer online sports betting in Tennessee and the mobile app will go live there on November 1, pending regulatory approval.
One way to gain visibility with sports fans in the state is partnering with the NFL team. It doesn’t hurt that the Titans are off to a 3-0 start this season.
The New York Jets, Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos also are partners with BetMGM. As legal sports gambling continues to be introduced to more states that are home to NFL teams, expect to see similar partnerships between those teams and gambling operations. That was unheard of just a few years ago in the NFL.
“The Titans are an incredible organization and we’re proud to have BetMGM as the team’s first official sports betting partner,” BetMGM chief marketing officer Matt Prevost said. “This is truly a partnership between two great brands and we’re excited to introduce Titans fans to new ways to engage with their favorite football team.”
