Tiger Woods: Updates, score and tracker for golf icon at Augusta for Round 1
Editor's note: Follow live coverage of the Masters, leaderboard, highlights and more.
As is always the case when he appears at Major events, Tiger Woods was one of the most-watched golfers during Day 1 year's Masters Tournament. Woods is seeking his sixth Masters title, which would tie him with Jack Nicklaus for the most all-time. And although Woods won The Masters as recently as 2019, his odds weren't great for a championship this time around.
Outside of a win, Woods has another record on his mind as well. Woods has made 23 consecutive cuts at the Masters, tied with Fred Couples and Gary Player for the longest streak of all-time. The Masters has a notoriously unforgiving cut, allowing only the top-50 players from the first two days to advance into the weekend, where most PGA events mark their cut at the top-61.
Woods surprised many fans on Day 1 though, earning a birdie on his first hole of the tournament. While Woods struggled to get past that -1 plateau the rest of the day, he still comfortably sits within the top-20 of the field heading into Day 2.
Although Woods claims to be playing through injury right now, he is still clearly talented enough to make some waves at Augusta. Here is how Woods played through Day 1.
