Texas Tech football vs Washington State score today: Red Raiders pummeled by Cougars 37-16

It was a no good, very bad trip to the northwest for the Texas Tech football team as Washington State manhandled the Red Raiders, coming away with a 37-16 victory in Pullman on Saturday night.

Though he's Washington State's quarterback, John Mateer was the top rushing option for the game. The Cougar gunslinger used his legs 21 times and carved out 197 yards against the Red Raiders. He added another 115 yards through the air, totaling two touchdowns.

Behren Morton finished with 323 yards on 34-of-58 passing with one touchdown and two interceptions.

12:37 a.m.: Washington State adds a field goal to make it 37-16, 5:57 left.

12:30 a.m.: Facing 4th-and-3, Washington State blitzes and forces an incompletion from Morton. Fourth turnover on downs tonight.

12:27 a.m.: Texas Tech recovers the onside kick. Red Raiders ball with 9:21 left.

12:24 a.m.: Behren Morton hits Cameron Dickey on a short toss and Dickey runs in for a 12-yard TD. Morton's pass on the two-point attempt is intercepted, so Tech trails 34-16 with 9:21 left.

12:09 a.m.: Josh Kelly brings in a beautiful, one-armed TD catch. ... and it's called back for holding on the offensive line. On the next play, Morton is hit as he throws and the ball is picked off, his second interception of the game.

12:03 a.m.: That's right, it's now Sunday in Lubbock, folks! Behren Morton finally connects on a pass longer than six yards, hitting Jordan Brown for a 19-yard gain to end the third quarter. Texas Tech has 1st-and-goal at the Wazzu 7, down 34-10 when play resumes.

11:55 p.m.: Wazzu goes for it on 4th-and-goal from the 1 and Schlenbaker punches it in to extend the Cougar lead to 34-10 with 3:13 left in the third quarter.

11:52 p.m.: The FOX broadcast said that Sterling Porcher had to be helped to the locker room and also showed Vinny Sciury being driven out on a gator with his left leg elevated.

11:43 p.m.: Josh Kelly breaks through for a 37-yard gain, but two penalties and four play later, Texas Tech turns it over on downs for a third time in the game. Washington State ball at their own 49, 5:36 left in third. Starting left guard Vinny Sciury had to be helped to the sideline and couldn't put any weight on his left leg after the play.

11:38 p.m.: Starting left tackle Sterling Porcher is being helped to the sideline.

11:34 p.m.: Washington State goes for it on 4th-and-short inside the Tech 10 and comes up short. Red Raiders will take over at their own 7, 9:34 left in the third.

11:30 p.m.: Quincy Ledet Jr. is headed to the locker room after making a tackle early in the second half.

11:02 p.m.: We've reached halftime. Washington State leads 27-10. Cougars to receive the second-half kickoff.

10:57 p.m.: Kyle Williams, who returned to the game, follows the tipped pass by Maurion Horn and brings it in for a 21-yard TD to put the Cougars up 27-10 with 25 seconds left. The extra point was missed.

10:55 p.m.: Behren Morton's pass is picked off by Ethan O'Connor. Pass was intended for Josh Kelly but the ball sailed into the waiting O'Connor.

10:51 p.m.: Washington State gets down to the Tech 37 but Dean Janikowski's 46-yard field goal is no good. Tech trails 21-10 with 1:32 left in the half.

10:44 p.m.: Chapman Lewis has been ejected from the game for targeting. He will miss the rest of the contest after coming up with his first career interception in the first quarter.

10:37 p.m.: Touchdown, Texas Tech. Morton throws a lateral out to Coy Eakin, who tosses a 20-yard touchdown to Johncarlos Miller II. Red Raiders down 21-10, 5:33 left in half.

10:34 p.m.: Caleb Douglas with Tech's first substantial offensive play of the game, taking the 2-yard pass another 40 yards down to the Wazzu 37 for a big first down.

10:28 p.m.: Another one-play drive for a TD for Washington State. Djouvensky Schlenbaker takes it 2 yards for the score. 21-3 Wazzu, 7:53 left in half.

10:27 p.m.: On Texas Tech's first play, Josh Kelly is stripped of the ball and Washington State returns it to the 2-yard line. Texas Tech's second turnover of the game.

10:21: Wayshawn Parker takes the first play of the ensuing possession 43 yards for a TD. Washington State leads 14-3, 8:09 left in half.

10:19 p.m.: Texas Tech goes for it on 4th-and-1 from their own 43-1/2. Another wildcat ran with Conyers is stuffed for a loss of yardage. Turnover on downs.

10:09 p.m.: Washington State receivers miss on a pair of easy catches and the Cougars must punt. Tech begins the drive at their 8, 12:03 left in half.

10:07 p.m.: Washington State star receiver Kyle Williams stays down on the ground after getting taken down by a gaggle of Red Raiders on a reverse. he is being helped off the field favoring his left arm.

9:15 p.m.: Ben Roberts forces a fumble and De'Braylon Carroll almost has his second recovery of the short season, but the Cougars keep possession and convert on third down. First and goal.

9:12 p.m.: Jack Burgess' punt only goes 26 yards after a 3-and-out from the Texas Tech offense. Cougars back with the ball already in Red Raider territory.
