Five-star St. Louis wide receiver Ryan Wingo committed to Texas on Wednesday afternoon after choosing between the Longhorns and his home state school of Missouri.

"It was probably one of the hardest decisions I made for sure. Having to pick something over a school that's rising and close to home," Wingo said in a statement to On3.

Wingo is coming out of University High and is the No. 7 receiver prospect in the country, according to 247Sports' composite rankings. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound wideout also had been considering Texas A&M, Tennessee, Miami and Georgia, though Missouri seemed to be the front-runner for most of the process.

He's the third five-star recruit Texas has landed for 2024, following Duncanville edge rusher Colin Simmons and Mater Dei offensive lineman Brandon Baker from California.

The Longhorns' class is ranked No. 13 nationally.

On3 also reported that Wingo said his relationship with Steve Sarkisian, the coaching staff and Texas' offensive system were key factors that led to him choosing Austin.

"My relationship with the coaches is great," he said. "Knowing that I will be comfortable with the coaches is also a big thing. I think I'm closest with coach (Chris) Jackson. They plan on utilizing me every way they can."
