Texas high school football: Arizona State, TCU commits among Austin area's best 10 WRs

As the 2024 Texas high school football season nears kickoff Thursday, the American-Statesman takes a look at the top 10 players at every position.

High school reporters Colby Gordon and Rick Cantu rank the top 10 wide receivers from the Austin area who surely will find themselves in the end zone plenty this year.

Top 10 wide receivers in the Austin area

Noah Fabila, Rouse

By contributing 590 yards and six touchdowns in 2023, Fabila helped the Raiders go 8-4 and reach the area round of the playoffs.

Jarell Gary Jr., McNeil

A multipurpose player, Gary had 708 yards receiving, 294 yards on the ground and scored 12 touchdowns for playoff team. He is being recruited by Texas Tech football, North Texas and UTSA.

Kyran McFrazier, Pflugerville

After contributing 753 receiving yards and eight touchdowns as a junior, McFrazier will be quarterback Cole Taylor's chief target this fall.

Keyshon Moore, Bastrop

One of the area's most explosive players, Moore averaged 24.2 yards per catch and scored 14 touchdowns as a junior. He's committed to Air Force.

Cooper Reid, Dripping Springs

On a team that went four rounds deep into the playoffs, this 6-foot-4 wideout contributed 36 receptions for 636 yards and seven TDs as a sophomore. Reid has scholarship offers from Minnesota, Cal, Houston and UTSA.

Ed Small, Anderson

The All-Central Texas receiver and TCU football pledge contributed 77 catches for 1,112 yards and 20 touchdowns in just 10 games as a junior.

Nolan Waida, Wimberley

The 6-3 Texan senior expanded the team's passing attack with 854 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. He's earned offers from a few schools, including Howard Payne University.

Brody Wilhelm, Westlake

The 6-6 Chaparral senior stood tall in 2023, catching 39 passes for 663 yards and seven touchdowns for 14-1 team. Wilhelm is a three-star prospect with offers from Navy and Texas State football.

Adrian Wilson, Weiss

The Arizona State football commit led the Wolves with 60 catches, 1,033 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Zane Wooldridge, Leander

Emerged as an offensive threat for the Lions as a junior with 827 yards receiving, 362 yards on the ground and eight TDs. His offer list includes Prairie View A&M.
