On Monday, Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian told reporters that quarterback Quinn Ewers would start if the Longhorns were playing Oklahoma that day. Two days later, that still appears to be the case.

Ewers was listed as "probable" on UT's first injury report of the week. A third-year starter, Ewers has not played since straining his oblique during a game against UTSA on Sept. 14.

No. 1 Texas (5-0, 1-0) is set to play No. 16 Oklahoma (4-1, 1-1) at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Saturday.

Ewers was joined on the Texas injury report by defensive back Derek Williams Jr., punter Michael Kern, deep snapper Tate Haver and running back Colin Page. Like Ewers, Williams received a "probable" designation. Kern, Haver and Page were all listed as "questionable."

Running backs CJ Baxter, Christian Clark and Velton Gardner have all been ruled out. Baxter and Clark suffered season-ending injuries during the team's fall camp.

On its injury report, Oklahoma announced that receivers Jayden Gibson, Jalil Farooq, Nic Anderson and Andrel Anthony, defensive backs Gentry Williams and Kendel Dolby and offensive lineman Geirean Hatchett had been ruled out. Last season, Anderson caught the game-winning touchdown pass with 15 seconds left in OU's 34-30 victory over its Red River rival.

Oklahoma receiver Deion Burks and tight end Kade McIntyre are both "questionable" for Saturday's showdown.
