Texans rookie D'Onta Foreman scores first career TD, then suffers gruesome injury
It was a day of the highest highs and the lowest lows for Houston Texans rookie D’Onta Foreman.
The running back out of the University of Texas was destroying the Arizona Cardinals, scoring his first career touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Just a few minutes afterward, however, disaster struck.
Foreman swept around the right side for a 34-yard touchdown run. But just before he crossed the goal line, a Cardinals defender clipped Foreman, and he landed awkwardly. He writhed in pain, clutching his left leg and soon afterward had to be carted off.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported:
#Texans RB D’Onta Foreman is believed to have torn his Achilles after his clinching TD today, sources say. Brutal luck all year for Houston.

The touchdown-and-crucial-injury was reminiscent of the Chicago Bears’ Zach Miller, who suffered a gruesome injury last month on a touchdown and, for a time, was in danger of losing his leg. Foreman’s touchdown counted while Miller’s didn’t, but that’s the only hint of good news — and it’s not much at all — in a day that began bright and ended ugly for Foreman.
