Takeaways and observations from Alabama football's Fan Day open practice
Bryant-Denny Stadium opened its doors to fans for the first time this fall on Sunday, with Alabama football hosting Fan Day.
The Crimson Tide held an two hour open practice in front of fans and signed autographs afterwards. There were roughly 300 fans in attendance.
The practice began with individual position drills being ran but eventually shifted into an 11-on-11 drill. Here are observations and takeaways from Alabama football's open practice on Fan Day.
Missing players
There were a few players that were seen not playing as much on Sunday, including Tyler Booker (guard), Richard Young (running back) and Jam Miller (running back). At one point, the trio were seen walking stadiums in their jerseys while also working on band drills once they got to the bottom of the steps. All three were in their jerseys but just were not actively participating in drills. Linebacker Jihaad Campbell is another player who was missing on Sunday along with guard Jaeden Roberts.
With Booker and Roberts both out, the first-team offensive line fans saw on Sunday consisted of (from left to right) Kadyn Proctor, Geno VanDeMark, Parker Brailsford, Roq Montgomery and Wilkin Formby. Elijah Pritchett could be seen taking reps with the second team. William Sanders, Joseph Ionata and Casey Poe made up the interior of the second-team offensive line. Only one high snap was seen on Sunday, with it coming from Ionata during the 11-on-11.
Offensive notes
Freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams could be seen lining up and getting first-team reps. Germie Bernard and Cole Adams were also getting first team reps with Williams while Kobe Prentice, Emmanuel Henderson and Kendrick Law made up the second group. Speaking of Henderson, he made an impressive catch off of a pass by Dylan Lonergan, with Law doing the same off of a pass from Ty Simpson.
Fans also got a glimpse of Graham Nicholson on Sunday, with the kicker nailing all three of his 38-yard field goal attempts. Conor Talty got some reps too, missing his first from about 40 yards out but making his next two.

Defensive notes
The first-team defense consisted of Jah-Marien Latham, Tim Keenan, Jeheim Oatis and Que Robinson on the defensive line. With Campbell not participating, it was Justin Jefferson in his place along with Deontae Lawson. Zabien Brown, still with a cast on his left hand, along with Keon Sabb, Malachi Moore, DeVonta Smith and Domani Jackson made up Alabama's first-team secondary.
The second-team defense consisted of James Smith and and Damon Payne Jr. at defensive tackle and LT Overton at bandit. Justin Okoronkwo and Jeremiah Alexander were at inside linebacker while Qua Russaw, Yhonzae Pierre, King Mack, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. and Kameron Howard each rotating in at safety with Jaylen Mbakwe and Zavier Mincey manning the corners.
Other practice notes
At one point during the practice, the quarterbacks lined up on the 20-yard line and each took a turn at attempting to throw the ball in a trio of trashcans lined up in the corner of the end zone. Austin Mack seemed to be the first to make it into a trash can, with Simpson also putting the ball into the trash can. Jalen Milroe came close, hitting the trash cans twice.
Also to note, freshman Noah Carter had an impressive interception off of Dylan Lonergan in the 11-on-11 drill, returning it for a touchdown.
