Things have been quiet the last week on the Brandon Ayiuk trade front. The Pittsburgh Steelers have been in the mix to trade for the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver going all the way back to March. Each time the two sides seem to be getting close, something comes up and puts the brakes on everything.

Through two weeks of the preseason, the Steelers' offense has shown without a doubt just how badly they need Aiyuk to help inject some life into an anemic offense. However, that anemic offense might be enough to Push Aiyuk to take the Steelers off his list completely.

Nothing we've seen over the last two weeks gives us any confidence that Pittsburgh will be able to generate any sort of consistent passing game. Aiyuk is one of the best young receivers in the NFL. Aside from money, what would be Aiyuk's motivation to join this team, given how badly the offensive line and quarterbacks have played?

The Niners are one of the best teams in the NFL. Could Aiyuk have a change of heart and decide a little less money this season is worth playing on a much better team?
