Spurs unveil symbolic Austin mural ahead of SXSW appearance, Moody Center games

The Spurs have arrived in Austin in a big way.

With their Moody Center games vs. the Nuggets and the Nets upcoming, the Spurs have unveiled a new mural at Wanderlust Wine Company’s downtown location.

Designed by local artist Adrian Landon Brooks, the piece will remain up throughout the remainder of the Spurs' NBA season. The team will also host a pop-up at the mural on Wednesday, March 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. as part of Spurs Week, which also includes SXSW activities.

“Painting this massive Spurs mural, the energy and love from fans was electric,” Brooks said in a statement. “From photo ops to car-window cheers, it was an amazing experience. I’m honored to celebrate this powerful team and its family. Go Spurs!”

The team has played at least two games in Austin for the past two years at Texas' Moody Center. This year will feature even more excitement, as fans will be able to see franchise cornerstone and 2023 NBA draft No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama when the Spurs visit in a week.

The mural is a tribute to their fans in Austin and represents "different icons and patterns representing the Spurs and symbolizing the motion and movement of basketball," the team said in a release.
