Spring All-County: Which baseball players earned top honors in Palm Beach County?

Another stellar spring on the diamond saw local high school baseball teams stuff their trophy cases in 2024. This season, Palm Beach County is even the home of a state champion.

The Dwyer Panthers were the last ones standing, leaving Fort Myers with a historic state championship in hand, but there are more accolades to go around. To meet The Post's baseball Player of the Year, make sure to buy your tickets for the Palm Beach County High School Sports Awards scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.

Finalists for Player of the Year will also be recognized, as well as Coach of the Year. Nominated athletes can register for the live show, produced with support from Baptist Health Orthopedic Care, at this link. The Palm Beach County High School Sports Awards show is part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country.

In 7A state playoffs, threw 4-1 win to eliminate No. 3 Park Vista and advance to region semifinals as sixth seed.

Forged 17-7 regular season record with 2.14 ERA, 43 strikeouts, and .213 OBA. Reestablished Bobcats as one to watch throwing wins over Benjamin and Park Vista, along with an extra-innings thriller against Suncoast.

Brady Benevides, junior, Suncoast

Two-way threat saw Chargers on 19-8 run to 5A playoffs. On the mound, notched 1.62 ERA and 7-3 record with 69 strikeouts. In the field, caught .931 of chances, highlighted by three double plays. Offensively, maintained .365 batting average for 15 runs on 27 hits and 22 RBIs with 10 doubles, one triple and three homers. Committed to Richmond.

Helped Warriors triumph through coaching transition with team-high .420 batting average and on-base percentage of .551. Chipped in 12 runs on 34 hits with 22 RBIs, highlighted by nine doubles, a triple and four home runs. Behind the plate, fielded .984 of 189 chances with two double plays.

Carried Crusader offense with .417 batting average, scoring 16 runs on 35 hits − eight doubles, one triple and a home run − with 24 RBIs. Perfect behind the plate with 251 putouts on 251 chances as Newman navigated 22-6-1 route to 3A region semifinals.

Remained a force behind the plate for Cobras with .996 fielding percentage and 17 assists, but transformed offensively as a senior, improving .212 batting average from 2023 to .359 as a senior. Batted in 14 and scored three runs on 28 hits with four doubles and a triple as Vista went 16-12 to region quarterfinals. Signed to Erskine.

Manned hot corner with .917 fielding percentage to deny batters down the stretch of Dwyer's historic run to 6A state championship. Supported the Panthers offensively with .413 batting average, scoring 19 runs on 38 hits with 27 RBIs and 20 stolen bases. Signed to University of South Florida.

Keaton Kangas, senior, Santaluces

Four-year starter finished varsity career with team-best .406 batting average and 1.084 on-base-plus-slugging percentage. Saw Chiefs to 16-12 finish in 7A playoffs with 25 runs on 28 hits with seven doubles and 11 stolen bases. At shortstop, registered .909 fielding percentage, turning out five double plays. Signed to Florida Gulf Coast University.

Brady King, senior, Suncoast

Barry University signee registered 1.72 ERA with 63 strikeouts and .144 OBA for 5-2 record on the bump and .986 fielding percentage behind the plate. Charged offense swinging .347 for four runs on 26 hits with 13 RBIs and five doubles.

Shortstop shut it down from the plate to the infield as Bulls battled grueling schedule for 18-12 journey to 6A region championship. Came second on the stat sheet with .340 BA and 21 runs on 33 hits. Topped roster with 31 RBIs to rank fourth in Class 6A, in large part due to nine doubles, a triple and six home runs − which rank 24th in Florida. Also ground out 4-0 record on the hill with two saves and a sought-after 0.00 ERA. Signed to Appalachian State.

James Litman, senior, West Boca Raton

Third and final year on the mound saw Bulls ace go 5-3 with 1.90 ERA and four complete games. Florida Atlantic signee nearly doubled 64 strikeouts as a junior, finishing senior year striking out 109 to rank 16th in Florida and first in Class 6A.

Led Crusaders to region semifinals from the mound with 0.90 ERA for 6-0 record. Along the way to staking district championship revenge over rival Benjamin, gave up just seven earned runs and struck out 75 through 54 innings, limiting opposition to .138 batting average.

Reigning Palm Beach County baseball Player of the Year went out on a high note after four years holding down the hill for Cobras. Through 63 innings, maintained 0.44 ERA to rank 19th in Florida while 121 strikeouts ranked second overall in the state. Record of 7-1 included upset victory over powerhouse Stoneman-Douglas and 15 strikeouts to complete first-ever no-hitter against Wellington. Signed to Florida Gulf Coast.

Senior held young crew of Broncos together for one last go in 7A playoffs. Led roster with .395 batting average for 20 runs on 34 hits and 13 RBIs, highlighted by 12 doubles and two triples. In the outfield, caught .982 of 56 chances. Committed to Palm Beach State.

Jackson Miller, senior, Dwyer

Before continuing career at Ole Miss − or the next level pending selection in 2024 MLB draft − transferred to Dwyer to leave varsity diamond with district, region and state championships. Touted center fielder prospect managed .976 fielding percentage and was instrumental at the plate with .440 BA. Ranked 19th in Florida with 37 runs on 40 hits with 25 RBIs, 12 doubles, four triples, three homers and a team-best 24 stolen bases.

Dick Howser selection spent season as county's top offensive player by the numbers and was critical to restoring glory of Lancer baseball program, flipping from 7-13 last spring to 13-8 in 2024. Stat-line of .467/.605/.716 resulted in 34 runs on 28 hits with 11 RBIs while 33 stolen bases ranked 13th in Florida.

Pitcher, outfielder and third baseman credited as the "ultimate team player" and proved it throughout season, from playing all nine positions in appearance against Olympic Heights to leading offense with .400 batting average for 16 runs on 28 hits with seven RBIs. On road to 16-11 finish, supported defense with perfect fielding percentage and consistent arm, striking out 42 of 152 batters faced for 2.20 ERA through 35 innings.

Nick Rovitti, senior, Dwyer

Propelled Dwyer to its first-ever state title appearance with 12 strikeouts in semifinal shutout of Viera. Panther ace had best season yet on the mound, setting personal record with 1.38 ERA, .192 OBA and forging 11-1 record that ranked fourth in Florida. Struck out 104 through 71 innings to rank 20th in the state. Signed to The Citadel.

Colton Schwarz, a University of Florida commit, is navigating his first season with the Jupiter Warriors.

Made instant impact in first season at Jupiter hitting .447/.500/.662 to lead roster with 36 runs on 35 hits with 25 RBIs. Florida commit dominated at shortstop with team-high 11 double plays, 51 putouts and 30 assists.

Zach Stefan, senior, Boca Raton

Nine wins on 20-9 season highlighted by seven-strikeout outing to upset No. 4 Braddock and advance to 7A region semifinals as fifth seed. Through 61.1 innings, registered 1.94 ERA with 46 strikeouts and two complete-game shutouts as Bobcats improved from 13-10-2 record last spring to 20-9 in 2024.

Dawson Thrush, senior, Dwyer

Critical member to Dwyer defense dominated from shortstop, fielding .904 of chances, to the bump, accumulating 1.29 ERA for 2-0 record with two saves through 11 appearances. Kept strikes coming for complete game to deny region title to West Boca and again through 6.2 innings to win state championship game over favorite Buchholz, registering 32 strikeouts in 32 innings on the season with a .149 OBA. Helped out offense swinging .291 for 15 runs on 25 hits with 21 RBIs, eight doubles and a homer.

Ethan Trivison, sophomore, Jupiter

Comeback season after injury as a freshman saw lefty prospect finish with 1.84 ERA heading into playoffs. Clemson commit struck out 49 through 44 innings.

Helped Eagles soar through postseason with .953 fielding percentage on defense and offering a hot lefty bat to the offense, hitting .370 for 19 runs on 34 hits and 20 RBIs, including five doubles, five triples and a homer. Saw sixth-seeded squad to 3A region championship after notching a run and three RBIs to upset No. 2 Newman in semifinals. Stunned county in first-round with 14-0 rout of No. 3 Benjamin, contributing to the dub with three runs on three hits and two RBIs.

Cael Brannon, senior, RHP/1B, Park Vista − Registered 1.67 ERA, 52 strikeouts, 4-0 record and one save, plus one complete game no-hitter through 37.1 IP

Parks Fucci, senior, OF, West Boca Raton − Led team with 28 runs on 34 hits, including eight doubles, one triple and a home run with 19 stolen bases; managed .968 fielding percentage in the outfield

Luke Hogue, senior, INF/RHP, Palm Beach Gardens − Daytona State commit stepped up to serve as do-it-all guy for Gators, batting .400 for 20 runs on 34 hits with 12 RBIs, highlighted by six doubles and two triples; in wild upsets against Jupiter and Park Vista, emerged from six-inning outings as winning pitcher, also delivering game-clinching RBI single against Warriors and walk-off homer to deny Cobras

Kody Morgan, senior, OF, Dwyer − Proved one of Panthers' most important pieces to title chase from offense, hitting .306 for 20 runs on 22 hits, 16 RBI, three doubles and two home runs, to defense; USF signee was perfect in field and registered 1.83 ERA with 35 strikeouts through 30 innings on the bump

Dovydas Raciunas, senior, LHP, Spanish River − Gave Sharks' pitching staff a bite with 1.67 ERA, striking out 43 of 161 batters faced through 37 innings

Connor Sorge, junior, RHP, Jupiter − Unsung hero of Warriors' arsenal of arms notched 42 strikeouts, 1.38 ERA and 1.87 OBA through 45 innings for 4-1 record

Peyton Warner, freshman, RHP, Trinity Christian − Highly touted prospect drawing interest from Alabama, Arkansas State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Florida wrapped second varsity season with 57 strikeouts and 1.82 ERA for 3-1 record and two saves as TCA made run to defend district title. In 2A playoffs, struck out three through six innings to upset No. 2 True North Classical Academy and advance to region semifinals.
