Woods was the only person in the car, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. Lt. Michael White told reporters that his injuries are not life-threatening. His agent Mark Steinberg announced that Woods underwent Tuesday surgery afternoon.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Woods suffered a shattered ankle and two leg fractures, one of them compound. Deputy Carlos Gonzalez, who was first on the crash scene, told reporters that Woods was “very fortunate ... to come out of this alive."
Woods' team issued a statement on Tuesday night after his surgery, saying that he is "awake, responsive and recovering" at the hospital.

Athletes from across sports wish Tiger Woods well
News of the crash sent shockwaves through the sports world and beyond. Even former President Barack Obama sent prayers to Woods on Twitter.
Sending my prayers to @TigerWoods and his family tonight—here’s to a speedy recovery for the GOAT of golf. If we’ve learned anything over the years, it’s to never count Tiger out.

Former President Donald Trump wished Woods well in an interview on Fox News on Tuesday night, too. He couldn't help but mention how Woods' presence on the PGA Tour always results in a bump in TV ratings, either.
"He's going to be back," Woods said, via USA Today. "I have no doubt about it, he's going to be back ... All I'd say to him is get better and get out there because we all miss him. We need Tiger.
"When Tiger is in contention, which is often, the ratings are double and triple. It's very few people that can cause that kind of phenomena."
Athletes from across the sports spectrum sent well wishes to Woods as details of the crash emerged throughout the day.
We are all pulling for you, Tiger. We are so sorry that you and your family are going through this tough time. Everyone hopes and prays for your full and speedy recovery.
