Seminole Fast Facts: What to know about Florida State football ahead of 2024 season

Things are going to look a little different at Florida State's Doak Campbell Stadium this season.

A new stadium capacity of 55,000 is in place for Seminoles fans due to the ongoing renovations to the famous venue, down from the max capacity of 79,000 that the stadium has had for years. The new version of Doak is expected to be completed in time for the kickoff of the 2025 season against Alabama, with full capacity of around 70,000.

Here are other tidbits FSU fans should know ahead of the season kickoff against Georgia Tech at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland on Aug. 24.

The Seminoles are scheduled to open preseason practice Wednesday, July 24.

What is Florida State's all-time record?

The Seminoles are 593-281-17 (.675) all-time, appearing in 50 bowl games in 77 seasons of football.

Legendary head coach Bobby Bowden is the program's most winningest coach with 304 wins, including winning two of the program's three national titles (1993,1999).

How many students attended FSU, who is the president, athletics leadership?

FSU head coach Mike Norvell is entering his fifth season with the program after going 13-1 in 2023, winning the ACC championship, and going undefeated in the regular season before losing to Georgia in the Orange Bowl.

Norvell is the program's 13th head coach and he has a 31-17 record with the Seminoles, and a 69-32 record all-time in his nine seasons as a head coach. He runs multiple offensive schemes and uses a 4-3 defense as his primary playbook.

How many FSU starters, letter winners are back for 2024 season?

FSU will return 10 starters from its 2023 season, with four players returning both on offense and defense, and two players returning on special teams. There will be 52 letter winners from last year's team returning this season.

The players returning on offense include offensive linemen Darius Washington, Maurice Smith, Jeremiah Byers and tight end Kyle Morlock. The defensive players returning include defensive tackle Joshua Farmer, defensive end Patrick Payton and defensive backs Fentrell Cypress II and Shyheim Brown. The two special teams returners are kicker Ryan Fitzgerald and punter Alex Mastromanno.

How many FSU starters, letter winners did the team lose ahead of 2024 season?

FSU lost 15 starters from its 2023 season, with seven players leaving on both offense and defense, including one special teams player. Nine players from last year's team were selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. There are 34 letter winners from 2023 that left the team.

Offensive starters lost include quarterback Jordan Travis, running back Trey Benson, wide receivers Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman, tight end Jaheim Bell and offensive linemen Casey Roddick and D’Mitri Emmanuel. Defensive players lost include defensive end Jared Verse, defensive tackle Braden Fiske, linebackers Kalen DeLoach, Tatum Bethune and defensive backs Jarrian Jones, Akeem Dent, Renardo Green. The sole special team's starter lost was long snapper James Rosenberry, Jr.
