Saints announce last-minute roster moves for Week 7 vs. Broncos
The New Orleans Saints announced last-minute roster moves for Week 7's game with the Denver Broncos, including standout wide receiver Rashid Shaheed going on season-ending injured reserve. Here's what you need to know about every transaction:
WR Rashid Shaheed designated to injured reserve
Shaheed's season is over after he underwent meniscus surgery in Los Angeles, having injured his knee late last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He's facing a six-month recovery so we'll see him again in 2025. That's a huge blow to a New Orleans receiving corps already missing Chris Olave (concussion).
WR Jermaine Jackson signed from the practice squad
Jackson signed with the Saints as a rookie from Idaho, and while he was initially let go after roster cuts he re-signed with the practice squad a few weeks later. Now he's the go-to option to replace Shaheed on special teams.
WR Equanimeous St. Brown elevated for Week 7
St. Brown is a single-game elevation this week, so he'll return to the practiice squad after the Broncos game. He's eligible to be called up for two more games before the Saints will need to sign him to the 53-man roster to continue playing him. He's a big target and they need bodies at receiver with both starters injured.
S Johnathan Abram elevated for Week 7
Abram is in the same boat as St. Brown, which means he's going back to the practice squad after this game. But he's used up his three single-game elevations which means the Saints must sign him to the 53-man roster if they plan on activating him for more games this season. He's taken a lot of snaps at safety so they may need him.
