Royals-Yankees ALDS tickets skyrocket following Wild Card sweep

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The only thing in big-league baseball hotter than the Kansas City Royals right now might be tickets to see their playoff games.

Game one of the American League Division Series is Saturday night at Yankee Stadium. Game Two is Monday night in the Bronx. Wednesday’s ALDS Game Three moves the action to Kauffman Stadium for the Royals’ first home playoff game in nine years.

The Royals franchise went to back-to-back World Series in 2014 and 2015 winning it all the in the latter.

Baseball fans are fed up as Bally Sports threatens to drop Royals

At Overland Park’s Tickets For Less, tickets for Wednesday’s Game Three are selling at a faster clip than witnessed in 2014 and 2015, according to Jason Durbin, a vice president of the ticket sales agency.

As of Thursday evening, Tickets for Less’ cheapest seat for Game Three costs $248, which is up about $100 from the day before. Durbin said that price shot up once the Royals eliminated the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Wild Card Series.

“(Fans) really just want to make sure they’re going to get to a game. Game Three is the one that’s guaranteed to happen. They don’t want to miss out on a chance to see Kansas City in the playoffs at home,” Durbin said.

On the Royals website, Thursday ticket prices were as low as $360. Earlier in the week, that website sold some Game Three tickets for $69 apiece.

Durbin recommends thrifty baseball fans to keep their eyes on a potential Game Four, which would be at the K on Thursday, October 10th. He said there are some good deals to be found for that game, and if Game Four doesn’t happen, purchases will be refunded.
