While there may be at least a handful of other teams hoping for it, the Carolina Panthers might not be ready to call it quits on quarterback Bryce Young.

Dianna Russini, senior NFL insider for The Athletic, shared some recent chatter from around the league this morning—just a few days before this year's trade deadline. And when it comes to the first overall pick of last year's draft, the Panthers seemingly have a bit of patience left.

Russini writes:

It’s not a surprise the Carolina Panthers continue receiving multiple calls from teams interested in trading for former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young. At this time, Carolina is not considering moving the quarterback, who is starting Sunday against the Saints. The Panthers were encouraged by his improvements and overall commitment to the team in his return to the field last week. I do expect the team will assess everything this offseason and make a decision on Young’s future in Carolina. NFL executives around the league believe if Carolina decides to trade him they’ll get a better deal by waiting until offseason anyways.

Young fared fairly well in his return to the starting lineup in Week 8. He completed 24 of his 37 throws for 224 net passing yards (the most against the Denver Broncos this season), two touchdowns and two interceptions.

When asked on Monday if the team is considering a trade of Young, head coach Dave Canales didn't offer much.

“Yeah, again, those are . . . all those things are stuff that Dan [Morgan] and Brandt [Tilis] are talking through,” he replied. “For me, like, my focus is to just address some of the issues we’re talking about from a football standpoint. And then, that’s really where I have to keep my energy and focus right now.”

Canales would name Young as the starter for the team's Week 9 matchup against the New Orleans Saints two days later.
