Report: Mets parting with acting GM Zack Scott weeks after DUI arrest

The New York Mets are parting with acting general manager Zack Scott, two months after he was arrested on a DUI charge, SNY's Andy Martino reports.

The Mets placed Scott on administrative leave after his arrest, and "he will no longer be a part of the organization" as of Monday, according to Martino's report.

According to police, Scott was found sleeping in his car at 4:17 a.m. on Aug. 31 near the White Plains, New York, courthouse. He failed a field sobriety test and refused breathalyzer and blood tests, according to police. He faces trial in December.

Scott had attended a fundraiser at team owner Steve Cohen's nearby Connecticut home the night prior to his early morning arrest, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The Mets hired Scott in December as senior vice president and assistant general manager. They promoted him to acting general manager in January after firing then-general manager Jared Porter. Porter was fired amid allegations that he sexually harassed a reporter by repeatedly sending her unwanted explicit texts while he previously worked in the Chicago Cubs front office.

Prior to joining the Mets, Scott spent 17 seasons in the Boston Red Sox front office.

Team president Sandy Alderson has served as general manager since Scott was placed on leave and has been actively pursuing new candidates to run the team's front office in recent days, according to Martino.
