Justin Thomas ready for battle against Tiger Woods, son: Charlie 'talks trash just like his dad’
Justin Thomas knows he needs to watch his back later this month at the PNC Championship, but not from who you’d normally expect.
This time, it’s Charlie Woods — Tiger Woods’ 11-year-old son — who has Thomas in his sights.
Charlie ‘talks trash just like his dad’
Tiger and Charlie will team up for the first time at the annual father-son tournament open only to major champions, which is set to kick off on Dec. 19 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando.
Thomas — speaking at the Mayakoba Classic in Mexico on Tuesday, which marks the final official PGA Tour event of the year — said he and Tiger had been talking a lot about how Charlie wanted to compete with him there.
"For some reason, Charlie just always wants to beat me. It doesn't matter what it is,” Thomas said, via ESPN. “Although he's never beaten me in golf or a putting contest, he still talks trash just like his dad. It will be fun. We'll have that, like, inner tournament within a tournament, try to shut his little mouth up, but it will be fun."
Thomas and Tiger are two of 20 teams slated to compete in the two-day event, joining Lee Trevino, Gary Player, Greg Norman, Matt Kuchar and more. Thomas will compete with his dad, Mike.
Though it’s not an official event, Woods is more than ready to get out there.
"I can't tell you how excited I am to be playing with Charlie in our first official tournament together," Woods said last month. "It's been great watching him progress as a junior golfer, and it will be incredible playing as a team together in the PNC Championship."
