Tiger Woods will team up with son Charlie for PNC Championship
Tiger Woods and his 11-year-old son Charlie are teaming up for the very first time to play at the PNC Championship, a yearly father-son golf tournament.
“I can’t tell you how excited I am to be playing with Charlie in our first official tournament together,” Woods said, via Sports Illustrated. “It’s been great watching him progress as a junior golfer, and it will be incredible playing as a team together in the PNC Championship.”
The tournament will be held in Orlando, Florida, from Dec. 19-20, and numerous other golfers will be playing alongside one of their family members. Justin Thomas, Matt Kuchar, Lee Trevino, Jim Furyk, John Daly, Greg Norman and Tom Kite are just a few of the golfers in the field who will be playing with their fathers or sons.
Father and son shared a special moment
Woods and Charlie have already shared a special golfing moment in the public eye. After Woods won the 2019 Masters, his first major tournament win in 11 years, he and Charlie — who hadn’t been born yet when Tiger last won a major tournament — embraced after he walked off the 18th green. It was an echo of Tiger’s embrace with his father, Earl, all the way back in 1997 when he won the Masters, his first major tournament win.
If this doesn’t bring a tear to your eye you’re not human. In ‘97 we saw Tiger hug his father after winning his 1st Masters. Today Tiger hugs his son Charlie after winning his 1st major in 11 years. There is nothing in sports like The Masters. #TigerWoods pic.twitter.com/6Bn5ecIeQs

Woods coaches Charlie
Woods has been coaching his son at golf, because of course he has. But it doesn’t seem too intense or hardcore. He recently talked about it, and absolutely lit up when talking about Charlie’s progression and his excellent swing.

Here’s a look at that swing in January. It’s incredible how much Charlie’s movements resemble his dad’s.

Tiger and Charlie both probably prefer to win when they play next month, but it seems like they’ll make some great father-son golfing memories no matter what.
