Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett shares update on shoulder injury
New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett gave an update on his shoulder injury during an appearance on the "WEEI Afternoon Show" on Tuesday.
The quarterback took a scary hit in Sunday’s preseason finale against the Washington Commanders. He left the game after the first drive after sustaining a right shoulder injury. He went 2-of-4 passing for 19 yards before exiting.
Rookie Drake Maye came into the game and played the bulk of the second half.
It appears that Brissett was fortunate enough to avoid a major injury. He said his shoulder was "good" with the Patriots' regular season opener less than two weeks away.
"It's good. I think it was more of a precautionary measure. ...I haven't gotten hit in eight months, so it kind of surprised me more than anything," Brissett said. "I feel good and excited and ready for the season."

Brissett’s health could play a factor in who ultimately starts in Week 1 for the Patriots against the Cincinnati Bengals. If he's fine, he could get the first crack at the job in a tough road matchup.
If not, the team might be forced to hand the reins over to Maye right out of the gates.
