Week 1 was a brutal watch for Carolina Panthers fans. In fact, it was a brutal watch for anyone who enjoys football . . . outside of the New Orleans Saints fan base, of course.

The team looked unprepared as a whole—as they were outmatched and outcoached throughout the humiliating 47-10 loss. And that was evident from the very first offensive snap of the game, one that ended in an errant interception off the hand of quarterback Bryce Young.

Unfortunately, Sunday was just the latest embarrassment under the reign of owner David Tepper. Since he purchased them back in 2018, the Panthers have yet to clinch a winning season—let alone a playoff berth.

We've seen changes at general manager, at head coach and, of course, under center—from failed retread attempts to a struggling No. 1 overall pick. Absolutely none of it has worked to this point.

While there seemed to be some hope with a fresh-faced leader in Dave Canales guiding his new vision into 2024, much of it was lost already in Week 1. Young appeared painfully uncomfortable throughout the contest, the defense didn't get a stop until their 10th drive of the game and even special teams gave up a 49-yard punt return as well as a blocked punt.

That abysmal showing has brought this regime's failures to the forefront even more and many of their fans to a boiling point. How much longer can the Carolina faithful be subjected to the worst on-field product in football?

But hopefully, especially for the most faithful of all, there will be a light at the end of what may be another dark tunnel.
