Pack the park! Detroit Tigers set Comerica Park record for postseason attendance at 44,885

If there was any doubt that Detroit Tigers fans were ready for postseason baseball after a decade without, they put it to rest Wednesday.

Game 3 of the ALDS at Comerica Park drew 44,885 fans, setting the postseason record for the park that opened for the 2000 season.

The previous playoff record was set on Oct. 7, 2013 — also Game 3 of the ALDS — when 43,973 attended the Tigers’ 6-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics.

The all-time Comerica Park record is 45.280, set on July 26, 2008, in a 6-7 loss to the Chicago White Sox. In all, the Tigers have had nine games, all in the regular season, with more than 44,885 fans in the park, with the most recent coming on Opening Day 2017.
