OU football recruiting: Three-star CB Maliek Hawkins commits to Sooners' 2025 class
NORMAN — The Hawkins brothers are getting back together.
After playing with each other at Frisco (Texas) Emerson, the duo will be reunited as junior three-star cornerback Maliek Hawkins, brother of Sooners freshman quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr., picked OU over Texas on Wednesday.
Maliek, 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, is ranked the No. 53 cornerback nationally and the No. 94 overall player in Texas, according to 247Sports.com's industry ranking. He has taken four official visits to Norman.
OU's 2025 class now ranks No. 6 in 247Sports.coms's team ranking.
Hawkins is the Sooners' first cornerback commitment in their 2025 class. Michael Hawkins Sr. played cornerback at OU under Brent Venables in 2002.
