When is Olympic gymnastics uneven bars final? What to know about Paris Games event

The American women are looking to end a gold medal drought in the uneven bars. Can they change that at the 2024 Paris Olympics?

A woman from the U.S. hasn't topped the Olympic podium in the uneven bars in more than four decades, with the last U.S. gold in the event coming in 1984, when Julianne McNamara tied for first place with China's Ma Yanhong at the Los Angeles Games.

That doesn't mean the Americans haven't come close. Madison Kocian earned silver at the 2016 Rio Games and Nastia Liukin took silver at the 2008 Beijing Games. Sunisa Lee, the Tokyo Olympics all-around champion, won a bronze medal in the uneven bars at the Tokyo Games in 2021.

Lee is the only American in the uneven bars competition this year. She's already picked up two medals at the Paris Games so far —  gold medal in the team event and bronze in the all-around at the Paris Games.

During the qualification round last week, Biles finished ninth (14.433) on the uneven bars, barely missing out as only the top 8 advance to the final.
