Ole Miss sprinter McKenzie Long wins three NCAA track and field championships

Ole Miss sprinter McKenzie Long spent the weekend at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships chasing greatness.

She left it in the dust.

Long brought three national championships back to Oxford, claiming individual victories in the women's 100-meter Dash and 200-meter Dash and contributing to the Rebels' victory in the 4x100-meter Relay.

Her time of 21.83 seconds in the 200-meter dash was the second-fastest in college history, and the 24th-best time in world track and field history. She ran the 100 meters in 10.82 seconds.

Teaming up with Akilah Lewis, Gabrielle Matthews and Jahniya Bowers, Long helped Ole Miss complete the 4x100-meter relay in 42.34, the 18th-fastest time in college history.

Long, a senior transfer from NC State, became one of just six women to win all three of those events.

"Yes, I was tired," she told reporters afterward. "My legs are tired. But I just told myself, 'This is your last.' So I just pushed through."

Her performance lifted the Rebels to a fifth-place team finish, which is the best in program history.

Earlier in the week, Ole Miss also claimed a national title on the men's side. Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan won the men's shot-put with a distance of 68 feet, 6 inches, setting an outdoor Ole Miss record.
