Oklahoma State basketball will be a 'good job': Reactions to Mike Boynton's firing
The Mike Boynton era of Oklahoma State basketball has reached its end after seven seasons.
The Cowboys' 12-20 season ended Tuesday with an ugly 77-62 loss to UCF in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament.
Boynton finishes with an overall record of 119-109.

“Fear kills more dreams than failure ever could.”@thacoachmike taught me a lot in our 6 years together, but this is my favorite. Nobody, and I mean nobody, worked harder and represented OSU better than Mike Boynton. I’m proud to call him a friend.

Mike Boynton will always be an easy person to root for, no matter what program he ends up as.

This news really makes me sad. Mike Boynton is as good a person as you will ever meet, and his positive impact in Stillwater has been immeasurable. Two representative stories below... https://t.co/qvB6RzW4Wh

NIL funding will be key in OSU coaching search
Between Boynton's guaranteed money for getting sacked and the hiring of a new staff, sources in the industry speculated Oklahoma State will need to inject at least $12 million in this hiring cycle. And that is before NIL fundraising. OSU ranks near the bottom in the Big 12. https://t.co/KI0Qgbj28H

You can knock Boynton all you want, but you can’t say he didn’t give it everything he had. He was a great ambassador for the university and battled the NCAA head on. One of the easiest guys ever to root for. I wish him well and I’m confident he’ll land on his feet.

It sucks, but it’s what needed to be done.
You gotta win, and with the NCAA issues fading away, excuses were fading too.
Boynton seemed to just “get it” with OSU. All in on the program, school and community. Such a good fit in many aspects. Pretty sad day.
Good luck coach. https://t.co/STOmpVUu0U— Bryce Hulse (@bryce_hulse) March 14, 2024

Oklahoma State is 'a good job' in the Big 12
Will be interesting to see who lands at Oklahoma State. That’s a good job and will be the only Big 12 presence in Oklahoma going forward, for what it’s worth. Mike Boynton seems like a good guy, just couldn’t find consistency in Stillwater.
