OKC Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren earn NBA Western Conference honors

OKC Thunder standouts Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren earned top Western Conference honors on Thursday for their play in December.

Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 31.9 points per game in December to earn Western Conference Player of the Month honors.

Holmgren, a 7-foot-1 forward/center, averaged 17.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in 13 games throughout the month and was named rookie of the month for the Western Conference. Miami Heat forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. earned Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month honors.

Holmgren was also named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for October/November, giving him back-to-back selections. He's averaging 17.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game this season.

OKC selected Holmgren with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He's still considered a rookie because he missed all of last season due to injury.
