Ohio State's Bruce Thornton, Jamison Battle earn all-Big Ten mentions

Ohio State’s Bruce Thornton received third-team all-Big Ten honors as voted by the media while Jamison Battle has also received postseason recognition.

As the league announced its awards for the 2023-24 season, Thornton and Battle were the lone Buckeyes to earn mention. Battle was voted honorable mention by both the league’s coaches and a 34-member media panel and Thornton joined him on the latter team.

Thornton, a two-time captain, leads Ohio State in scoring, assists, free-throw shooting percentage and assist-to-turnover ratio. He’s tops in the Big Ten with a 3.5 assist-to-turnover ratio, fourth in free-throw percentage (86.3%), ninth in assists (4.3) and 11th in scoring (16.1). Despite missing one game with a migraine, Thornton still leads Ohio State in minutes played (1,009:17) for a second consecutive year.
