Ohio State women's basketball misses last 6 shots, holds on against Purdue Boilermakers
The Ohio State women's basketball team missed its last six shots and failed to score a field goal in the final 4:35 on Sunday but still held on to beat Purdue 71-68.
The win moved OSU to 17-3 on the season and 8-1 in Big Ten play. It was the Buckeyes' seventh straight victory.
Purdue (9-11, 2-7) ran a zone defense that keyed on Jacy Sheldon (9 points) and Cotie McMahon (10 points), and neither made a basket in the first half. Despite that, McMahon, who had 12 rebounds and 8 assists, finished just two helpers shy of a triple-double.
Rebeka Mikulasikova led Ohio State with 15 points. Taylor Thierry added 14. After contributing just 4 points in a 67-59 win over Illinois Thursday, the Buckeyes' reserves combined to chip in 17 against the Boilermakers.
OSU also benefited from stellar ball movement, recording 22 assists on 24 made shots.
The Buckeyes' next game is at home on Thursday against Wisconsin.
