Freshman Kate Koval notched her first double-double Wednesday night as Notre Dame beat James Madison, 92-46, at Purcell Pavilion.

The 6-foor-5 freshman Koval had 14 points and 16 rebounds, shooting 5-of-7 from the field.

Sophomore guard Hannah Hidalgo led the Irish with 24 points, six rebounds and four steals. Junior guard Olivia Miles had 16 points, six rebounds and eight assists. Cassandre Prosper and Liatu King each had 11 points, with Prosper coming off the bench to also snag seven rebounds.

Those not suiting up for the Irish Wednesday included senior Kylee Watson (knee injury late last season), grad Maddy Westbeld (lingering foot issue), grad transfer Liza Karlen (left foot/ankle issue) and junior KK Bransford (red shirting).

The Irish stayed steady at No. 5 in this week's USA Today Coaches poll and were No. 6 in the Associated Press poll.

Next up for the Irish is a trip to Easton, Pa., to take on Lafayette on Nov. 17. The Irish will then travel to Los Angeles to meet No. 3 Southern Cal on Nov. 23. A Thanksgiving trip to the Cayman Islands follows before the Irish host No. 4 Texas on December 5.

The Irish will kick off their ACC slate on December 8 at Syracuse, N.Y. Three non-conference home games will follow in December, including against rival Connecticut on Dec. 12, before Notre Dame hosts Virginia on Dec. 29 for its ACC home opener. Home games against ACC newcomers SMU (Jan. 19), Stanford (Feb. 6) and California (Feb. 9) are also included in Notre Dame's ACC slate. With the expanded ACC, Notre Dame's only repeat conference opponent this season will be Louisville (Feb. 2 and March 2).

Of Notre Dame's 18 ACC games, 14 will be on national TV with six on ESPN or ESPN2. Notre Dame's non-conference games against Texas and Connecticut will also be on ESPN. All games can be listened to locally on WSBT Radio (96.1 FM, 960 AM)

Preseason news included graduate student and four-year starter Maddy Westbeld announcing that she will miss the beginning of the season with a lingering foot issue and junior guard KK Bransford's announcement that she will red shirt the season to heal a lower leg injury.
