Nolan Nawrocki, key part-time starter for Clemson baseball, enters transfer portal

CLEMSON — Clemson baseball received shocking news Friday when infielder Nolan Nawrocki entered the transfer portal, according to a report from On3sports.

The redshirt sophomore appeared in 36 of the Tigers' 60 games (34 starts) and recorded a .264 batting average with four home runs and 24 RBIs. He also tied for the team lead in stolen bases with 11. He was a part-time starter who would play third base and share designated hitter duties with Jacob Jarrell.

In the NCAA tournament, Nawrocki went 1-for-7 with one RBI and two walks. During Game 2 of the Clemson Super Regional, Nawrocki was involved in a shoving altercation with Florida's Jac Caglianone, but neither was ejected. The New York native entered the portal with five days remaining until the July 2 deadline.

Nawrocki is the fourth Clemson player to enter the portal, joining Billy Barlow, Nathan Hall and Cooper Blauser. Tigers coach Erik Bakich has added three players via the portal: outfielder Dominic Listi (Indiana State), infielder Collin Priest (Michigan) and catcher-first baseman Luke Gaffney (Purdue).

The Tigers (44-16) look to make their third consecutive NCAA tournament next season in Bakich's third season after reaching the NCAA super regionals for the first time since 2010.
