No. 16 FSU softball falls to No.5 Duke Blue Devils in ACC Championship

DURHAM, N.C. - The No. 16 Florida State softball team (43-14) came up just short in the ACC Championship Game against top-seeded and No. 5 Duke (47-6) on Saturday afternoon in front of a sold-out crowd at the Duke Softball Stadium. FSU fell 6-3 to the Blue Devils.

Both offenses got off to a slow start as Amaya Ross recorded the game's first hit on an infield single in the third inning. FSU's bats got hot in the fourth inning as Kalei Harding hit a rocket over the left field wall to give the Noles a 2-0 lead. Isa Torres continued the momentum with a single, and Michaela Edenfield brought her home with a double down the right-field line.

Duke responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning, and the Noles' bats went cold as they put just one player on base in the final three innings. Duke took advantage and scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to gain the lead.

Edenfield, Harding, Torres and Kaley Mudge were all named to the ACC All-Tournament Team.

FSU will learn its postseason fate on Sunday during the NCAA Selection Show at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
