Tennessee redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week on Monday.

Iamaleava made his second career start and his first at Neyland Stadium against Chattanooga. He also set a record for passing yards in a half.

Iamaleava totaled 314 passing yards in the first half of Tennessee's, 69-3, victory over Chattanooga in the 2024 season opener for both schools. He completed his first 10 passing attempts.

The redshirt freshman completed 22-of-28 passing attempts for three touchdowns against the Mocs.

Tyler Bray previously set Tennessee's record of 313 yards in the first half against Troy on Nov. 3, 2012. Iamaleava's performance represents the fourth 300-plus yard half in program history.

Iamaleava is the first Vols' freshman, redshirt or true, to start a season opener since 2004.
