Nick Chubb passes Bo Jackson on SEC career rushing list
Georgia running back Nick Chubb surpassed an Auburn great during Saturday’s game vs. the Tigers.
Chubb moved past Bo Jackson to No. 4 for career rushing yards by an SEC running back. Chubb entered the game with 4,291 yards, 12 yards behind Jackson.
Jackson played at Auburn from 1982-85 and won the 1985 Heisman Trophy with a 1,786-yard season. Chubb’s best season came as a freshman when he ran for 1,547 yards and 14 touchdowns. His sophomore season was set to be even better — he was averaging eight yards a carry — but was cut short after a brutal knee injury vs. Tennessee.
Through nine games in 2017, Chubb has 867 yards and nine touchdowns.
He’ll likely finish his career as the second-leading rusher in the SEC, putting Georgia running backs in the top two spots. Former Arkansas RB Darren McFadden is second currently with 4,590 yards and former LSU running back Kevin Faulk is third with 4,557 yards. Chubb could get past them next week.
Chubb probably won’t get past Herschel Walker, though. Walker amassed 5,259 yards in just three seasons at Georgia.
