NCAA Tournament projections for Texas Tech basketball: Moving on up the seed line

Earning wins on the road will do some great things for your NCAA Tournament projections. That's the case for the Texas Tech basketball team after knocking off Oklahoma in Norman on Saturday.

The Red Raiders, now ranked 15th in the country, improved to 16-3 overall and 5-1 in Big 12 play with the 85-84 triumph.

Last week's NCAA Tournament projections saw Texas Tech firmly in the field by various experts. By beating the Sooners, the Red Raiders have improved their stock even more.

Entering the week, Texas Tech was 26th in the NET rankings with a 3-3 record in Quad 1 games. The Red Raiders are also 26th in KenPom.

ESPN: 7-seed (East Region)

Not a ton of movement in Joe Lunardi's latest bracket. ESPN's projection has Texas Tech as a 7-seed heading to Indianapolis to take on 10-seed Saint Mary's. This time last week, Lunardi had the Red Raiders as an 8-seed. The other side of that bracket portion features 2-seed Wisconsin taking on 15-seed Sam Houston.

CBS Sports: 4-seed (West Region)

In last week's projections, Jerry Palm had the Red Raiders as a six seed. Palm has moved the Red Raiders up a few notches, coming in as a 4-seed in the West Region. This projection sees Texas Tech facing 13-seed Akron in Spokane, Washington with 5-seed Auburn and 12-seed Samford on the other side.

Fox Sports: 8-seed (Midwest Region)

Prior to Texas Tech beating Oklahoma, Mike DeCoursey at Fox Sports pegged the Red Raiders as an 8-seed taking on 9-seed St. John's — ironic, considering last week's mailbag where I argued that coach of the year consideration Rick Pitino was receiving with the Red Storm should be directed toward McCasland.

Field of 68: 5-seed (Midwest Region)

During Monday's bracket reveal, the Field of 68 put the Red Raiders as a 5-seed and taking on 12-seed Appalachian State. The winner of that game would face the winner of 4-seed Kentucky and 13-seed Yale. Game locations were not included in this bracket.
