NCAA Tournament projections for Texas Tech basketball: Rematch with Texas A&M?

What kind of case does the Texas Tech basketball team have to reach the 2024 NCAA Tournament?

As of the latest projections, a pretty good one. The Red Raiders (15-3, 4-1), who are tied atop the Big 12 Conference standings, have removed themselves from the bubble with 10 wins in their last 11 games and are now firmly in the tournament field, according to college basketball's prominent bracketologists.

Over the next eight weeks leading up to the start of March Madness, we'll keep track of where Texas Tech could be headed, potential seeds and matchups for the NCAA Tournament.

ESPN: 8-seed (East Region)

Joe Lunardi's latest projections, released Tuesday morning, sees the Red Raiders as a No. 8 seed and heading to Boston to take on 9-seed Boise State. This is a jump of two seed lines for Texas Tech since Lunardi's projections last Friday. There, he had Tech as a 10-seed and listed among the Last Four Byes.

CBS Sports: 6-seed (Midwest Region)

The highest projected seeds have come from two sources, one of them being Jerry Palm at CBS Sports. In his Monday projections, Palm moved the Red Raiders to a 6-seed after having them as a 10-seed in his Jan. 19 bracket. Interestingly, Palm has Texas Tech heading to Pittsburgh to take on 11-seed Texas A&M, which Tech played in a charity exhibition before the season.

FOX Sports: 11-seed (South Region)

Michael DeCoursey's latest reveal came on Friday, before Texas Tech beat BYU. In that bracket, the Red Raiders were pegged as an 11-seed taking on Utah State. Game locations are not included in these projections outside of the region.

Washington Post: 6-seed (South Region)

Patrick Stevens' projections were published before Tech's two games last week. Prior to the Houston loss and BYU win, the Red Raiders were slotted as a 6-seed and headed to Pittsburgh. Like Palm, Stevens also had Texas Tech potentially facing the Aggies in the first round, though he has A&M in a First Four game against Nebraska to reach a game against the Red Raiders.
