NBA trade tracker: Knicks send Marcus Morris to Clippers in three-team deal

Knicks send Marcus Morris to Clippers in three-team deal
New York Knicks forward Marcus Morris is going to a contender. The Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers are finalizing a deal that would send Morris to Los Angeles for Moe Harkless, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The Knicks will also receive a 2020 first-round pick in the deal.
The Washington Wizards are also involved in the deal, according to Adrian Wojnaroswki of ESPN. Washington will send Isaiah Thomas to the Clippers. In return, Washington will receive Jerome Robinson.
The Clippers are not expected to keep Thomas, according to David Aldridge. He could be bought out as the team seeks other options. The 30-year-old Thomas is averaging 12.2 points and 3.7 assists.
Morris, 30, is averaging 19.6 points and 5.4 rebounds this season. He’ll team up with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George to give the Clippers another weapon in the West.
In exchange for Morris, the Knicks will receive the 26-year-old Harkless. It will be a homecoming for Harkless, who was born in Queens. In 50 games, Harkless is averaging 5.5 points and 4 rebounds per contest.
Spurs tell DeMar DeRozan he was not traded
The San Antonio Spurs stayed quiet at the deadline. The team opted to hold DeMar DeRozan as the trade deadline passed Thursday, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
While that news came down a minute after the deadline passed, deals finalized in the final minutes can trickle out a few minutes after the deadline is over. The 30-year-old DeRozan won’t have to worry about that.
Instead, he’ll focus on trying to get the Spurs back on track. At 22-28, the team is chasing a playoff spot in the West. DeRozan is averaging 23.3 points and 5.7 rebounds this season.
James Ennis heads to Magic for second-round pick
The Philadelphia 76ers made a last-minute deal Thursday, sending forward James Ennis to the Orlando Magic for a second-round pick, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Ennis, 29, is averaging 5.8 points and 3.1 rebounds this season. He’ll attempt to keep the Magic locked into a playoff spot down the stretch. At 22-29, the Magic are currently the No. 8 seed in the East.
Wizards deal Jordan McRae to Denver for Shabazz Napier
The Denver Nuggets are picking up another piece to help them in the West. The team acquired Jordan McRae from the Washington Wizards on Thursday, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
McRae, 28, is averaging 12.8 points this season. At 36-16, the Nuggets sit just a half game behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the No. 2 seed in the West.
In exchange for McRae, the Wizards will receive Shabazz Napier. The 28-year-old Napier is averaging 9.6 points and 5.2 assists.
Timberwolves trade Gorgui Dieng to Memphis for James Johnson
The Minnesota Timberwolves aren’t done dealing yet. The team made another move Thursday, sending Gorgui Dieng to the Memphis Grizzlies for James Johnson, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Dieng, 30, is averaging 7.4 points and 5.6 rebounds this season. He’ll hope to keep Memphis afloat in the West. At 26-25, the Grizzlies are currently the No. 8 seed in the conference.
Johnson, 32, is averaging 5.7 points this season.
Cleveland finalizing deal to acquire Andre Drummond from Pistons
Andre Drummond is heading to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The team is finalizing a deal for Drummond, according to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes.
In exchange for Drummond, the Detroit Pistons will receive Brandon Knight, John Henson and a second-round pick. Drummond, 26, is averaging 17.8 points per game this season.
The 28-year-old Knight is averaging 4.9 points per game. Henson, 29, is averaging 5 points and 3.9 rebounds in limited playing time.
Trail Blazers ship Skal Labissiere to Hawks
The Portland Trail Blazers are getting in on the trade action before the deadline. The team made a minor move Thursday, sending center Skal Labissiere and cash to the Atlanta Hawks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The Trail Blazers are also sending $2 million to the Hawks, according to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes.
Labissiere, 23, was been sidelined since Dec. 30 due to a knee injury. He’s averaging 5.8 points and 5.1 rebounds in 33 games.
Rockets send Jordan Bell to Grizzlies for Bruno Caboclo
Jordan Bell didn’t last long with the Houston Rockets. After being acquired by the team Wednesday, Bell was shipped to the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday for Bruno Caboclo, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Bell, 25, was acquired by the Rockets as part of a wild four-team deal Tuesday. He did not play a single game with the team. Bell is averaging 3.1 points in limited time this season.
Caboclo, 24, has been sidelined since December with a knee injury. In 22 games, Caboclo is averaging 2.8 points and 2 rebounds per game.
The Rockets and Grizzlies also swapped second-round picks as part of the deal.
Warriors deal D’Angelo Russell to Timberwolves for Andrew Wiggins
In what might be the biggest blockbuster of the entire 2020 NBA trade deadline, the Golden State Warriors have traded D’Angelo Russell to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Andrew Wiggins, according to Adrian Wojnaroswki of ESPN. The Warriors will also receive a protected 2021 first-round pick as part of the deal, and a 2022 second-round pick.
Golden State is also sending Jacob Evans and Omari Spellman to the Timberwolves in the deal.
The move allows Minnesota to finally land Russell, who they targeted in free agency. It should also make Karl-Anthony Towns happy. Our own Ben Rohrbach broke down the deal in greater detail here.
