NBA mock draft 2024

Here’s a breakdown of the projections surrounding NBA draft prospects at Duke, UNC and N.C. State.

Jared McCain, Duke

A sharpshooter considered to be the Triangle’s top prospect in the 2024 NBA Draft, McCain is projected by USA TODAY to be selected by the Miami Heat with the 15th overall pick. NBA.com has the 6-foot-2 guard going to the Orlando Magic at No. 18.

Kyle Filipowski, Duke

A versatile 7-footer capable of doing damage on the interior and the perimeter, Filipowski is predicted to land with the Phoenix Suns at No. 22 overall, according to USA TODAY’s latest mock draft. NBA.com thinks Filipowski will be playing with Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets, who have the No. 28 pick.

Harrison Ingram, UNC

Ingram’s 7-foot wingspan, along with his versatility as a defender and playmaker, should help him move up draft boards. USA TODAY doesn’t think Ingram will be a first-round pick, but NBA.com predicts the 6-foot-5 forward will be selected early in the second round by the Indiana Pacers.

Armando Bacot, UNC

A rebounding machine during his five seasons with the Tar Heels, Bacot isn’t expected to be selected on either night of the draft. Because of his knack for finding the ball, the 6-foot-11 center will likely get an opportunity as an undrafted free agent. Bacot had a pre-draft workout with the Los Angeles Lakers.

DJ Horne, NC State

Horne became a postseason star during the Wolfpack’s run to the Final Four, showing off his skills as a shotmaker and creator in some of N.C. State’s biggest moments. The 6-foot-2 guard has participated in several pre-draft workouts with teams, including the Indiana Pacers and Memphis Grizzlies. He isn’t currently projected to be drafted.

DJ Burns, NC State

“The mayor” during his time with the Wolfpack, Burns is known for his touch as a scorer in the post and a passer. Burns has reportedly dropped 45 pounds since N.C. State’s Final Four run, earning the chance to workout with several NBA teams, including the Charlotte Hornets and Indiana Pacers. The 6-foot-9 forward isn’t currently projected to be selected in the two-day draft.
