Nashville Predators 4, Arizona Coyotes 8: Logan Cooley's hat trick ends Preds point streak
The Nashville Predators saw the end of their franchise record point streak on Thursday with a 8-4 loss to the Arizona Coyotes.
Logan Cooley scored his first career hat trick for Arizona (31-37-5), who dealt Nashville (43-26-4) their first loss since Feb. 15.
Jason Zucker scored two goals in the first 5:11 to put the Predators up 2-0, but the lead for Nashville was short lived. Arizona tied the game on goals by Jack McBain and Logan Cooley, then Clayton Keller and Cooley scored early in the second period to build a quick 4-2 lead for Arizona.
Gustav Nyquist scored a power play goal to make it 4-3 later in the second, but Nick Bjugstad answered just over a minute later to make it 5-3. Arizona would add two more goals, one by Nick Schmaltz and an empty netter by Matias Maccelli, then Filip Forsberg added a late power play goal to make it 7-4.
Cooley polished off the hat trick with a late empty netter, making it an 8-4 final.
Juuse Saros was pulled from the game after the second period, saving only 21 of the 27 shots he faced. Kevin Lankinen saved all 11 saves he faced in the third period.
Arizona goaltender Connor Ingram finished with 32 saves on 36 shots for his 20th win of the season.
The Predators will look to start a new streak against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night.
