The New York Jets have high expectations in 2024 thanks to the return of Aaron Rodgers from his Achilles injury just four plays into last season.

We'll get a good gauge of just how close they are to meeting those lofty expectations right away, as they visit the NFC champions Monday for their season opener.

The San Francisco 49ers are currently four-point favorites over the Jets, down from an opening spread of -6. And bettors are all over the Niners in what they apparently expect to be a rough return and homecoming for the California native, Rodgers.

At BetMGM, 62% of tickets on the spread and 57% of the handle is on a San Francisco cover. Even more money is on the 49ers moneyline at 65%, with 52% of tickets picking the Niners to win.

More telling is the direction bettors went on the total, with 53% of bets and 67% of handle picking the game to go under 43.5 points. Essentially, bettors don't just expect the Niners to win, they expect at least one or both offenses to struggle. But if it is just one, it's the Jets.

Proof: The third most-bet prop from this game is Aaron Rodgers under 236.5 passing yards (-115). The top two props are in favor of the Niners -- Christian McCaffrey to score the first touchdown (+350) and McCaffrey to score anytime (-190) -- as is the fourth most-bet prop, which is George Kittle over 40.5 receiving yards (-120).
