Mississippi State baseball's Dakota Jordan named preseason All-American by Baseball America
STARKVILLE — Mississippi State baseball sophomore outfielder Dakota Jordan was named a third-team preseason All-American by Baseball America, the publication announced Monday.
Last season, Jordan hit .307 with 10 home runs, nine doubles and a triple. He ranked third among MSU players with 40 runs driven in. He totaled 41 starts, including 34 in left field. However, he has spent most of his time in right field during MSU's scrimmages this month.
Jordan was an All-SEC freshman selection and also earned freshman All-American honors from Perfect Game. He is the No. 27 prospect in the 2024 MLB Draft, according to MLB.com.
Jordan is a product of Canton, Mississippi, and attended Jackson Academy. In June, he entered the transfer portal before withdrawing his name and electing to stay at MSU.
Mississippi State opens its season on Feb. 16 with a three-game series against Air Force. The Bulldogs, after winning the national title in 2021, have failed to make the postseason the past two years.
