Mississippi State baseball's Dakota Jordan exits transfer portal after short stint | Report

STARKVILLE — Less than 24 hours after his entrance into the transfer portal, Mississippi State baseball outfielder Dakota Jordan has removed his name and is expected to return for the Bulldogs, according to reports from 247Sports and D1Baseball.

That's welcome news for coach Chris Lemonis as he looks to steer MSU back to its national championship expectations after back-to-back seasons with no postseason appearance. Jordan, as he transitions into his sophomore season, is a core piece in the Bulldogs' future.

Jordan hit .307 with 10 home runs and 40 RBIs. He ranked third on the team in average, fourth in home runs and third in RBIs. In SEC play, he was tied for first on the team in average (.333), second in home runs (8) and second in RBIs (27). His OPS was a team-best 1.083 in conference games.

The highlight of Jordan's season came in April when MSU, after dropping the first game in the set, looked to even its series against rival Ole Miss. Playing in front of an NCAA on-campus record crowd, Jordan sent a two-run single into left field for a walk-off victory.

Jordan is a native of Canton, Mississippi, who attended Jackson Academy.
