Miami Dolphins' Mike McDaniel grateful for Dan Quinn's influence on career

MIAMI GARDENS -- Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel met with reporters Wednesday morning, hitting on a wide variety of topics.

  • Benito Jones is day to day. "We're being proactive with Jalen (Ramsey) and something he's dealing with." Adds, "You'll see them."

  • Isaiah Wynn's quad injury status has coaches waiting until he's fully healthy.

  • ON Terron Armstead's increased activity: "It's been going outstanding. He's in a great spot from a health perspective."

  • On releasing Teair Tart: From a scheme standpoint it wasn't totally a fit.

  • On Washington coach Dan Quinn: "Dan Quinn has had a big influence, a gigantic influence on my career." Says Quinn was important to him "when I had a crossroads in my life. ... I don't know where my career would have gone if I didn't have the fortunate of being under his leadership."

  • Javon Holland "is working through something minor."

  • On the 2024 draft class as a whole: Says he and GM Chris Grier thought they may have a chance to contribute "early" and this is proving to be the case.

  • On Odell Beckham Jr.: "His teammates know that he's working hard because he shows them every day He didn't sign up for football to be in meetings, even though my meetings are entertaining."

  • Jaelan Phillips "is who I thought he was -- this is a guy who's on a mission."

  • The Dolphins also announced the signing of DT Robert Cooper, who is from Florida State. He is 6-feet-2 and 335 pounds. He has been with Seattle and Philadelphia. Cooper, 24, appeared in 57 games with 41 starts with the Seminoles. He had 123 tackles (56 solo), 2.5 sacks and three passes defensed.
