Mexicans celebrate World Cup win over Germany with tears, marriage proposals, much more
How much did Mexico’s 1-0 win over Germany at the World Cup on Sunday mean to millions of Mexicans around the globe?
It’s often said that a picture is worth a thousand words. And this is one of those cases.
The most visible celebrations were on the field immediately after the final whistle. Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez sunk to his knees, pounding the grass, overcome by emotion:
Chicharito was in tears, as were several other Mexican players. Manager Juan Carlos Osorio made his way around to all of them, dishing out bear hugs, lifting players into the air, those players returning the favor:

Mexican fans around the world jumped for joy, whether they were in a crowded public square in Mexico City, or in enemy territory, at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin:
Two countries two different reaction. Mexico 1 Germany 0. (Shocker) I got agree there are some brave Mexican fans in Germany. World Cup 2018 . Next match Switzerland VS Brazil. Tuesday Poland VS Senegal pic.twitter.com/R8ZMVccrUE

The reaction to Mexico’s goal was apparently the source of seismic activity in the Mexican capital.
Fans also celebrated wildly in Los Angeles:

And, of course, the tens of thousands of Mexico fans who have traveled to Russia went absolutely bonkers in the stands in Moscow:

One fan even proposed to his significant other in the middle of a circle of fellow El Tri fans after the game:

Safe to say it was a pretty special day for every fan of the Mexican national team.
