Memphis football beat Charlotte on Saturday at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium, but it wasn't easy.

The Tigers (7-1, 3-1 AAC) needed a last-minute touchdown drive to beat the 49ers (3-5, 2-2) 33-28. Seth Henigan hit Roc Taylor for a touchdown with 31 seconds to play, and Memphis' season is still alive.

DeShawn Purdie helps Charlotte tie the game

Purdie took over at quarterback for the second half and helped Charlotte erase a 14-point deficit. A Norton rushing touchdown tied the game at 21 with 8:02 to play.

Mario Anderson returns, and scores

Anderson came back from the locker room and immediately rushed for a touchdown to extend the Memphis lead to 14 points.

Makari Bodiford scores his first career touchdown

Running back Mario Anderson left the game with an injury, but true freshman Makari Bodiford replaced him and rushed for a touchdown.

The Tigers worked their way into the red zone at the end of the half, but Henigan threw an interception on fourth down and the game is tied heading to the half.

Henigan found Demeer Blankumsee for a 2-yard score to tie the game.
