Memphis football running back Greg Desrosiers to miss 'a couple weeks' with injury

Memphis football running back Greg Desrosiers will miss "a couple weeks," coach Ryan Silverfield said.

"I think Greg's probably out for a couple weeks, unfortunately," Silverfield said Saturday after Memphis (3-1, 0-1 American Athletic Conference) lost 56-44 at Navy. "I look at it one game at a time. But we'll reevaluate things in a couple weeks."

Desrosiers took a big hit during last week's win over Florida State and did not play against Navy. The CBS Sports broadcast reported that he was out with a "clavicle injury."

A transfer from UMass, Desrosiers took on a significant role in Memphis' offense after starting running back Sutton Smith suffered a season-ending knee injury in the opener against North Alabama. Desrosiers' ability as a change-of-pace back meant he saw a lot of the plays that would have gone to Smith, and he also served as Memphis' kick returner.

Desrosiers scored a receiving touchdown in the win over the Seminoles. He has 16 carries for 95 yards and a touchdown this season.

With Desrosiers and Smith out, Memphis had to get creative in the backfield. Mario Anderson and Brandon Thomas each got a significant amount of work against the Midshipmen, and both rushed for over 100 yards. Wide receiver Ja'Koby Banks also lined up in the backfield and got a carry.
