Memphis Grizzlies flexed out of 2 more national TV games, NBA announces
The Memphis Grizzlies have been flexed out of two more national television games, the NBA announced Wednesday.
The Grizzlies' Feb. 28 game against the Timberwolves in Minneapolis and the March 8 home game against the Atlanta Hawks will tip off at 7 p.m. CT and be televised on Bally Sports Southeast.
Both games had been slated for 6:30 p.m. CT start times and broadcast on ESPN.
The Grizzlies (20-36) have struggled this season and are in 13th place in the Western Conference at the All-Star break. They had entered the season, even without a suspended Ja Morant, with high expectations after acquiring Marcus Smart from the Celtics in the offseason.
But Memphis has been hit hard by injuries, starting with center Steven Adams being ruled out for the season with a knee injury. Morant's return in December gave the Grizzlies hope, but he suffered a shoulder injury in early January and was ruled out for the season after playing just nine games. Smart and Desmond Bane have missed significant time because of injuries.
This is the second time the Grizzlies have been flexed out of national TV games. There are still three games planned for ESPN and one game scheduled for NBA TV this season.
The Grizzlies are back in action Friday night when they host the Clippers at FedExForum (7 p.m. CT, Bally Sports Southeast).
